Ingredients Information (and Alternative Suggestions)

- Strawberries: Fresh strawberries are recommended to make it easy to chop into uniform pieces. They can be swapped, or mixed, with other berries such as blueberries or raspberries. Or try other fresh fruit such as cherries, mango banana or kiwi.
- Greek Yogurt: I use plain Greek yogurt but you can substitute it with your preferred yogurt. Coconut yogurt is a good dairy-free yogurt alternative, just make sure it is thick for best results.
- Honey: Adds a little sweetness to the yogurt, you can swap it with maple syrup or another sweetener of your choice. Alternatively, you can skip it entirely if you prefer a less sweet treat with no added sugar.
- Vanilla Extract: Added for flavour which compliments the tanginess of the yogurt and pairs well with the strawberries and chocolate.
- Dark chocolate Chips: Used for the chocolate coating, can be subbed with milk chocolate or a mix of both.
- Coconut Oil: Added to help the chocolate to melt smoothly and add a glossy finish

Step by Step Instructions (with Images)

- Chop Strawberries: Cut strawberries into evenly sized pieces, about ½ cm (¼ inch). Pat them dry to remove excess moisture.

- Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the diced strawberries, yogurt, vanilla, and honey.

- Portion the Mixture: Spoon out portions of the mixture onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, about 1-2 tablespoons each. Freeze for about 1 hour, until firm.

- Melt Chocolate: Combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15- 30- second intervals, stirring after each, until fully melted.

- Dip or Drizzle: Once the frozen yogurt clusters are solid, drizzle or dip each one in the melted chocolate.

- Freeze Again: Return the chocolate-coated bites to the freezer until the chocolate has fully set.
Top tips
- Dry the Strawberries: Pat the chopped strawberries dry with paper towel to remove excess moisture. This prevents the yogurt mixture from becoming too watery, ensuring better cluster formation.
- Use Thick Greek Yogurt: Thick yogurt is essential to help the bites hold their shape when frozen.
- Fully Freeze the Clusters: Make sure your clusters are completely frozen before coating them in chocolate. This helps them keep their shape and prevents them from falling apart.
- Chocolate Coating: If you're dipping the clusters, the chocolate can thicken and will not be good for coating. To avoid this, you can drizzle the chocolate instead of dipping. If you prefer to dip, keep the clusters frozen and remove them individually just before dipping. If the chocolate does thicken, add a little more coconut oil and microwave it in 15-second bursts as needed.
- Use Mini Popsicle Moulds or Ice Cube Trays: For a fun and less messy option, especially for younger kids, try using mini popsicle moulds or ice cube trays with sticks instead of forming clusters.

Storage
- Store any leftover frozen strawberry yogurt bites in an airtight container or freezable bag and freeze for up to two months.
Recipe FAQs
I do not recommend this recipe for babies under 1 year old, as honey should not be given to babies and chocolate is not recommended for young infants.
However, you can offer the frozen yogurt mixture (without the chocolate) to babies 6 months and older, once they are able to self-feed. (With the following considerations and modifications).
Omit the honey entirely.
Freeze the mixture in ice cube trays or use silicone popsicle molds designed for babies and toddlers with easy-grip handles.
Strawberries become very hard when frozen, and therefor big pieces can be a choking hazard. Finely chop and mash them, or consider pureeing the strawberries before mixing them with the yogurt.
For informational purposes only-each baby develops at their own pace. Make informed decisions for your child and consult a professional for personalised advice.
Frozen strawberry bites can be considered a healthier frozen treat. Greek yogurt provides a good source of protein, while strawberries offer vitamins and fibre.
The overall healthiness will depend on the type of yogurt you choose, the amount of sweetener added, and how thick the chocolate coating is.
