Reasons to Love this Recipe
- Easy: Just chop, toss, and serve—ready in minutes!
- Flavourful: Fresh ingredients with the perfect balance of sweet and savoury in every bite.
- Adaptable: Customise with extra fruit, skip the onion or jalapeño to suit your family’s taste.
- Nutritious: Great for introducing kids to new flavours and textures in one bite.
Ingredients Information (and Alternative Suggestions)
- Peaches: Use fresh, ripe peaches for the best flavour—both yellow and white flesh work well. If your kids aren’t fond of the furry skin, replace peaches with nectarines or peel them.
- Mango: Choose a ripe mango, that isn't overly soft, for the best results.
- Red Onion: Red onion is milder and sweeter than yellow onions, making it perfect for salsas.
- Red Bell Pepper: Adds crunch, flavor, and nutrition. Swap for orange or yellow pepper, or skip if preferred.
- Fresh Cilantro (Coriander): Adds flavour but you could skip or replace with fresh mint or parsley.
- Tomatoes: I used cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes or Roma tomatoes also work great
- Lime: Fresh lime juice and lime zest provides tang. You can substitute lemon, but always use fresh juice over bottled lime juice for the best taste.
- Jalapeño: Optional for a little kick. You may want to reduce or skip for little ones.
- Salt: Enhances flavour but can be skipped for little ones or adjusted to taste.

Step by Step Instructions (with Images)
- Step 1: Chop the mango and peaches into similar-sized pieces. Finely chop the remaining ingredients. ( I like to keep the mango and peach slightly bigger as I find with a finer chop the salsa can become quite mushy.)
- Step 2: Add everything to a large bowl. Squeeze in the lime juice and sprinkle with salt, then give it a good stir to combine.
Top tips
- Choose ripe fruit: For the best flavour, make sure your peaches and mangoes are ripe.
- Adjust the spice level to your liking. Start with small amounts of jalapeño peppers and increase gradually for little ones as they get used to spice. Conversely, if you prefer a spicier salsa then up the jalapeño
- Chill for better flavour: Let the salsa sit in the fridge for 5-10 minutes for the flavours to develop and blend together.
- Customise your salsa: Feel free to adjust ratios of the fruit and veg. If you aren’t a fan of cilantro try different fresh herbs like mint or fresh parsley for a different flavour twist.
- Sweeten to taste: If the fruit salsa is too tart, add a small drizzle of honey to balance the tangy flavour of the lime juice.
- Remove tomato seeds: To stop the salsa becomenig to watery.
- Dice the fruit slightly bigger than the other ingredients. This stops the salsa from becoming too mushy (which I find happens when I chop the fruit too small. ) Finely dice the remaining ingredients - the small pieces make it easy to pick up with a chip. This ensures every bite is full of flavour!
Serving Suggestions
- Serve with tortilla chips for a delicious appetiser or snack
- A fantastic topping or side for grilled fish or chicken
- Great as a topping for fish taco
Storage
Best eaten on the day of making but leftover salsa can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to a day.
