Ingredients Information (and Alternative Suggestions)
- Banana: Use ripe banana for sweetness; the riper it is, the sweeter the pancake.
- Rolled Oats: I used rolled oats, but quick oats or oat flour can also be used. Note that the cup size will differ while the gram amount remains unchanged.
- Egg: No egg replacement has been tested.
- Greek Yogurt: Can be replaced with yogurt of choice or even cottage cheese,
- Cinnamon and Vanilla Extract: Added for flavour; these can be skipped if preferred.
- Baking Powder: Helps lighten the texture.
- Blueberries: Use frozen or fresh blueberries. Bored of blueberries? Substitute with raspberries for a change.
- Oil for frying: Use your favourite, coconut oil compliments the flavours but olive oil or avocado oil will also work. Alternatively, you can use unsalted butter.
See the recipe card below for quantities.
Step by Step Instructions (with Images)
- Place all ingredients, apart from the blueberries and oil, in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Roughly chop the blueberries and gently fold them into the batter.
- Heat a nonstick skillet/frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of oil or butter to grease the pan. Reduce to medium-low heat and spoon small amounts of pancake batter onto the pan to form small circles.
- Cook until little bubbles start to form on the top of the pancakes, around 1-2 minutes, then carefully flip them over and cook for a couple more minutes until both sides are golden brown.
Storage
- Refrigerate: Place pancakes in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to two days.
- Freeze: Arrange pancakes on a baking sheet, ensuring they are close together but not touching, and freeze until solid, approximately 1 hour. Transfer the frozen pancakes to a ziplock freezer bag. Return the bag to the freezer and freeze for up to 2 months.
Recipe FAQs
These pancakes can be offered from 6 months of age, provided your baby is developmentally ready for solid foods. However, it's important to note that these pancakes contain both eggs and dairy which are common food allergens. Before offering these pancakes make sure you have safely and separately introduced eggs and dairy with no reactions.

You can serve these pancakes just like regular ones. For babies and young children, try serving them plain or topped with chia jam, a thin layer of almond butter, peanut butter, or another nut butter for healthy fats.
They're delicious with Greek yogurt for dipping and fresh fruits on the side. Serve the pancakes in strips, whole, or in small pieces to help develop their pincer grasp.

Kenna
Hi! Is there a way to make this recipe or any of the recipes that call for egg without egg? My little one is allergic.
Amy
Hi Kenna, I haven't tested all recipes but you could try a chia egg or flax egg. Here is some more information on egg alternatives
Jessica
I like the ingredients in these. So many baby pancakes have maple syrup or zero nutrition which I do not want to serve my baby. Baby loved them as did I.
Amy
Glad you and your little one enjoyed them! Amy
