Ingredient Information (with alternative suggestions)
You only need 3 simple ingredients to make pan fried cinnamon bananas
- Ripe but firm bananas – Underripe bananas are not recommended but you don't want to use bananas that are overly ripe either. Look to use bananas with a few brown spots that are slightly soft, but not mushy.
- Coconut Oil / Butter – both work great, the choice is yours!
- Ground cinnamon
Bananas are plenty sweet as they are but if you are want a more indulgent dessert then you can add 1tbsp of honey (not for under 1s) to the oil, just before adding the banana slices.
Step by Step Instructions (with Images)
- Peel and slice the banana into 1.5cm (½ inch) rounds.
- Heat coconut oil (or butter), over medium heat, in a nonstick or well-seasoned cast-iron skillet. Once melted stir in the cinnamon. Using a non-stick / well-seasoned cast-iron skillet will reduce the amount of fat you need to use. Depending on the skillet you use, you may find that you need to add more coconut oil/butter.
- Add the banana slices to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes. Pay attention to the temperature, you want them to caramelise but not burn. You may need to adjust the temperature up and down as they cook.
- Gently flip and cook on the other side for a further 3-4 minutes.

I’m on a low calorie strict diet, I don’t understand how we are coming up with the calories for this recipe. One banana is 105 calories. Then add butter and cinnamon….
