Apple fries with a peanut butter dip; a super simple, fun and healthy snack that the kids will love.
Living in a serviced apartment with the bare essentials hasn't allowed me to do much experimenting in the kitchen of late. However, we finally move into our new home next week and we should hopefully have our container full of our furniture and kitchen goodies in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait!
Recently, I have had a few e-mails asking me to post more snack ideas; healthy snacks that are quick to prepare. Therefore I'm making the most of this time, where I can't really get cooking, to share some fun snack inspiration. This snack of apple fries with a peanut butter dip is loved by both Finn and Rory, is prepared in minutes and is a fun sharing snack.
I always try to serve fruit with some form of protein; a handful of nuts/seeds, some greek yoghurt, some nut butter etc. Apple served with peanut butter is one of our favourite combos and we serve it together in a variety of ways. To make this peanut butter dip I just mixed peanut butter with some greek yoghurt in equal measurements and then added a drop of vanilla extract. Personally, I feel the apples add a lovely sweetness to this dip but if you think your kids would need it sweeter then you can always add a little maple syrup or honey to the dip.

Hi Amy liked the recipe I used some of my homemade almond butter in replace of the peanut butter. A great way to enjoy MC Donald's in a quicker healthier alternative.

Nude food sounds like a great initiative. Love your recipes by the way.

How do you stop the apple from going brown?
Amy
Hi Jane, I have never made this too far in advance and when I have made them they never last that long! If you do wish to make them a bit in advance then add the juice of half a lemon to a cup of cold water. Add the chopped apple to the lemon water. Hope this helps, sorry for the late reply but we just moved house and have had internet problems.
